Lincoln City look to regain their form with a trip to Colchester United on Saturday. The League 2 leaders are now only 3 points ahead of second place MK Dons.

But now they face a tough challenge with a trip down to Essex as they are welcomed by Colchester United, who themselves have had a great start to the season and are occupying one of four play-off places in fifth.

Lincoln’s last away game saw them pick up an amazing 6-2 win over Port Vale, and with two draw’s In as many games The Imps will hope they can bring back all three points.

City hope to have Jason Shackell available for the game, the defender has missed the last three games with an injury, and Lee Frecklington who hasn’t featured since the win against Port Vale three weeks ago after also picking up an injury. Danny Cowley’s side will be without Ellis Chapman after an appeal against his red card shown last weekend against Cambridge United was turned down.

Colchester’s most recent result saw them fall to a 1-0 defeat to Grimsby Town, the game also saw them without forward Sammie Szmodics and he could miss Saturday’s game with fitness problems as fellow striker Mikael Mandron could be called back in to the side.

Colchester United beat Lincoln City last season 1-0 at the Colchester Community Stadium, that being their first home win over the Imps since November 1996, and if United are to get the better of City on Saturday it will leave them winless in three and allowing MK Dons to go joint top if they are to win at Mansfield.

Colchester United vs Lincoln City kick off Saturday 27/10/18 at 3pm GMT.
