The annual event will be held on Tuesday 27th November, with over 1500 people expected to attend.

The procession is organised by St Barnabas Hospice and a pipe band will lead it from Claytons Sports Ground on Lee Road from 7.30pm, through the Bailgate, before finishing outside Lincoln Cathedral.

There will be a Tree of Life illumination at the Cathedral, with each light dedicated to somebody.

Those attending will also be able to leave a ‘message of love’ which can be tied to the railings surrounding the tree. From 6.30pm there will be buyable torches for £5 each to over-16s and battery lanterns for £3.50.

Road closures will take place from 7pm-9pm at: Bailgate, Castle Hill, Church Lane, Eastgate, Lee Road, Nettleham Road, Newport and Minister Yard.

Becky Otter, Events Manager, said: “Final preparations are being made for our annual Torchlight Procession which is one of the most heart-warming events in the Hospice calendar. You don’t need to register in advance, simply come along on the night and remember your loved ones in this unique and special way.

“The event is free to attend and open to everyone, not just those touched by hospice care.”
