Tuesday’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers left players and fans frustrated as Lincoln succumbed to their first loss of the season in front of 9,000 home supporters.

It was The Trotters midfielder Antoni Sarcervic who slotted in the winner for Bolton with just 13 minutes to go, as home fans looked on in despair. The Imps skipper Liam Bridcutt was clearly irritated by his team’s performance in his post-match interview.

“It’s still early and this is a kick up the backside that we need to cut the mistakes out. That’s been the case in the last three games, little errors are costing us.”

However, a silver lining for The Imps is the permanent signing of Timothy Joel “TJ” Eyoma from Tottenham Hotspur. Eyoma played over 50 games for Lincoln in all competitions last season, forming strong partnerships at the back with the likes of Joe Walsh.

Lincoln announced the signing on their club website before bringing Eyoma on to the pitch just before Tuesday’s game to the delight of the home fans. The club released a video of Eyoma walking on to the pitch applauding the fans with a huge grin on his face as the LNER Stadium roared with excitement.

Manager Michael Appleton stated Lincoln needed to be “aggressive” in getting Eyoma after he impressed in his season-long loan last season.

“He’s one of those players who we think is more than capable of playing in the Championship. We want it to be us.” Appleton said, “He had a fantastic couple of months playing at centre-half.”

“He was very composed, very assured, showed a lot of quality on the ball and had a lot of performances he’ll be happy with.”

It could be a few weeks before fans see the 21-year-old in a Lincoln shirt as he recovers from a knee injury. The Imps will travel away to Adams Park to meet Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, another huge test for Appleton and his squad.
