Mark Kennedy said today in his pre-match press conference that his current number one, Carl Rushworth, will be out for another ten days and should be pain-free soon. While marquee signing, Daniel Mândroiu, will have an injection to help his ankle injury.
On the Imps goalie, Kennedy outlined: “He should be back, I’m going to say ten days, from what I’ve been told. He should be pain-free quite quickly. I don’t know the extent of his injury in terms of his side and that. He’s due back in ten days and possibly earlier”.
Rushworth has started every single game of the Imps’ campaign so far, until this week when he was not named in the squad to feature against Oxford.
Jordan Wright was called upon against Oxford where Lincoln managed to get their first win in the league. Wright who featured a lot for Lincoln during the back end of last season, made some fantastic saves during his outing on Tuesday only conceding via a penalty.
Lincoln under 18 keeper, Sam Green, was named on the bench against Oxford but with Sam Long out on loan, Kennedy spoke about cutting short his loan at Boston United. He said: “I will tell you that in the next few days”.
In other injury news, Daniel Mândroiu, who last Monday was seven days off being ready for a match day, will now have an injection in his ankle to help with his pain which is not the injury he came with when Lincoln signed him.
Central defender, Adam Jackson, currently has a dead leg which he is struggling with and trying to recover from.
More will be known about Ben House tomorrow after being substituted against Oxford and coming off with a knock. It doesn’t look like a serious injury for House, but the player is said be in a lot of pain.
It is not all doom and gloom for injury news for the Imps, as central defender, Joe Walsh is set to complete a mini pre-season, after which he will then join back up with the squad.
Whilst some fans may be getting deja-vu with the number of injuries the Imps have got this season compared to last. The current set of results are showing that Kennedy’s squad is not as affected by this plague.
Next up for Lincoln City is the short trip to Peterborough United where they will be seeking retribution from the infamous game which cost the Imps a chance at automatic promotion in the 2020/21 season.
