This year’s annual Lincoln Christmas Light switch-on saw a star-studded cast take to the stage.

Former Atomic Kitten member Kerry Katona, and her daughter Lilly McFadden, switched on the Lincoln Christmas Lights tonight, alongside some of their fellow New Theatre Royal pantomime stars.

Both Kerry and Lilly will star in the New Theatre Royal’s Cinderella pantomine over the festive period.

Before the switch-on, audiences were treated to a performance by Local singer-songwriter, Chloey Rose.

Cinderella cast members also put on a dazzling performance.

The Mayor of Lincoln, BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Sean Dunderdale and Pudsey Bear were also amongst the special guests turning the lights on this Christmas.

Mrs Christine Ellerby, of Oliver’s Boat Trips said: “It’s nice to have the festive cheer in such hard times.”

Despite large crowds, the high street was noticeably less full than last year’s lights switch-on.

“Normally it’s filled, the weather has put people off.” Mrs Ellerby said.

However, the drizzle didn’t put a dampener on the festivities.

Crowds donned Santa hats and sang along to former Christmas chart-toppers such as Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’ and Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas is you.’

Crowds stretched from the Stonebow to the Wigford junction.

The annual event, hosted by the City of Lincoln Council and BBC Radio Lincolnshire, saw thousands of people fill Lincoln’s High Street and St Marks Shopping areas.
