Lindum Hockey players celebrating in a huddle.

Lindum Hockey player-coach Matt Bell gave his verdict on a last-gasp win at the end of a feisty, back-and-forth battle against Doncaster Hockey.

Speaking to Deputy Editor Spencer O’Leary post-match, he said: “That’s a big scalp because they were unbeaten.”

It was a big win for the Lincoln-based team, who rise to top of the England Hockey Conference North as a result. They are the only unbeaten side left in the league, having picked up three wins and a draw so far this campaign.

Matt added: “Our message before the game was for everyone to do their individual job, and I felt like today some players weren’t at their best, but we take the three points.”

The 4-3 win came with a last minute goal from a penalty-corner, as Matt Parker emphatically hit the ball past the Doncaster defence and goalkeeper. Player-coach Matt Bell said: “You don’t plan for those things, but you take them when they come.”

Bell scored two goals of his own in the game, before Jack Robson and Parker scored in the final quarter to turn the game from 2-3 to 4-3.

Matt said: “We’ll see on Tuesday, on the video, how it looked and go again next week.”

Next weekend Lindum make the trip to Bradford, facing another tough opponent in Ben Rhydding.
