The men’s first team claimed the bragging rights in the University of Lincoln Tennis society derby as they comfortably beat the men’s second team 6-0 in blustery conditions at Eastgate.
It was the first ever competitive fixture between the sides, with both teams competing in the BUCS Midlands Tier Four league this season.
In the doubles, 1st team pairing Josh Carter and Imam Alam came out on top against Ben Gladwin and Elliot Hogg 6-2, 6-2.
The second doubles encounter also went the way of the first team as Ollie Brine and John Howard secured a resounding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Henry Lunt and Alex Strong.
Carter was victorious again in the singles as he prevailed 6-0, 6-0 against Gladwin. Will Scott continued the first team’s dominance with a composed display in his 6-3, 6-3 win over Luke Ingesol.
Howard followed up his doubles triumph with another victory in the singles beating Henry Lunt 6-1 6-2.
The first team made it a clean sweep of singles victories as Imam Alam defeated Luca Colin-Thome 6-1, 6-0.
Josh Carter was delighted with the outcome and enjoyed coming up against some familiar faces in the opposition’s ranks. He said: “It was a professional performance from the boys today.”
And added: “I really enjoyed playing against the second team and hopefully both teams can have a successful season.”
