Lincoln City winger Dylan Duffy spoke to the media after their 1-1 draw with Port Vale on Saturday, saying “I just want to take my chance.”
Duffy was involved in the build-up with Jack Vale and the goal scorer Mide Shodipo for Lincoln’s 94th minute equaliser, when asked about the goal he said: “Jack is a pleasure to play with, when I saw him make the run I played him in and I’m buzzing for Shodipo, it’s been a tough time for him since he came back.”
Speaking on what Lincoln lacked until the equaliser came he said: “Maybe we could have been bit more clinical.”
Duffy has started the last two matches, his first consecutive starts of the season and has earned man of the match in both.
He said: “I think the last two games I’ve done well and it’s just about trying to keep a spot in the team now.” And added: “I’m young, I’m learning and I’m just trying to stay patient but that’s just football, you come in and out of teams.”
Lincoln were reduced to ten men after 54 minutes, when captain Paudie O’Connor was given his marching orders for an elbow on Ikpeazu. Like many others in the stadium, Duffy said: “To be honest didn’t see it.”
Duffy was also asked about how settled he feels at the club as it comes up to almost a year since he moved from the League of Ireland in January, he said: “I love it here everyone is great the staff, players, the fans so don’t have a bad word to say about this place.”
Tom Shaw’s period as interim head coach of Lincoln City has allowed Duffy to earn a place in the team with good performances in the last two games.
On his interim head coach, Duffy said: “I can’t talk highly enough of Tom Shaw…I can’t thank him enough.”
On whether a new permanent head coach coming in might come at a bad time for him having just earned the trust of the current one, Duffy said: “No I wouldn’t say so, I got in the team because Shawey [Tom Shaw] has put a lot of faith in me, but a new manager comes in it’s just start again that’s football.”
