“There’s a real sense of achievement that we’ve all got through it and did it every day.”

Those were the words of Lincoln City’s Senior Communications manager, Luke Thornhill. He was one of 28 people from Lincoln City FC that took part in the Prostate United challenge, running a 5K on every day in October, to raise money for the charity.

He said: “It was a tough month, 31 5Ks is not something that most people do. It was a challenge that was achievable for everyone, breaking it up into each day. But, that lack of recovery time made such a different, my shins are definitely feeling it now.”

The group has raised close to £1,500, after quickly raising £500. They upped the target to £1,500, which they are set to hit.

Luke said: “We had a Whatsapp group of people putting in their results and times. Just seeing that they’re doing it really spurs you on.

“We had 28 people in the end. I was talking to Grant Brown (Lincoln City’s record appearance holder) and he said he wouldn’t have done it without that commitment.

“Everyone’s got excuses. It’s a bit cold, it’s a bit wet, you’re a bit tired after work, you’ve got long days, but it really spurs you on and makes sure you don’t miss that run.”

Last year the Imps raised £2,000 during the campaign, which raises money for the Prostate Cancer UK charity.

Luke added: “Collectively, clubs across the country take part and they’ve raised something like £600,000 over the past four or five years as part of the challenge. So, it’s really great to be part of that wider achievement.”
