Lincoln City defender Adam Jackson is looking ahead to the Imps’ clash with Reading on Saturday, while reminding everyone of an old footballing adage.
Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Jackson said: “Every game in this league is hard. Every week, someone always beats someone that you don’t expect. We’ve know they’ve got some really good players, so we’ll be doing the usual analysis and hopefully we can find the plan to win.”
It’s often said that every game is a difficult one in football, but that may be true in this year’s SkyBet League One, with just nine points separating 10th and 20th.
Michael Skubala carried a similar theme when he described the visit of Reading as a “really difficult”.
Jackson has missed only two league games this season, and has enjoyed his game time. He said: “Once you get maybe five or six games in, it becomes a rhythm or routine. You just get used to it and it’s good to get that rhythm. Last year I didn’t really get that.”
TJ Eyoma has seen more game time over recent weeks too. Defensive-partner Jackson said: “I think he’s been brilliant, signs maybe of the first season with a bit more confidence in himself. I’ve always said he’s probably one of the best one vs one defenders at the club, so just to show that on the outside of the pitch suits him perfectly.”
Speaking to LincSport’s Jamie Johnson, the Imps defender spoke about the team secured two clean sheets in as many league games.
He said: “I think that was a big strength last year.” And added: “The gaffer [Michael Skubala] has come in and wants to do maybe a bit more with the ball, so that might overcompensate and lose a bit of stability at the back, but I think the back three has got to organise that to be more solid on the ball.”
