Lincoln City return to home action on Tuesday night, as they face a struggling Cambridge United side in Sky Bet League One.

After an emphatic 5-1 win away to Barnsley on Saturday, Michael Skubala’s side will be looking to continue their rich vein of form and add a 12th unbeaten game.

Heading into the game, the Imps sit in ninth, just six points from Stevenage in the final play-off spot.

Opposition: Cambridge United

The U’s currently sit 19th in Sky Bet League One, just five points above Cheltenham Town in 21st. Garry Monk started his tenure on Saturday, facing neighbours Northampton Town.

The sides drew 1-1, with Jon Guthrie scoring an equaliser late on to counter Elias Kachunga’s early strike.

Cambridge are winless in their last five games, with their last winning coming on February 17, beating rock-bottom Carlisle 4-0.

Team News:

Imps defender Adam Jackson returned to the squad on Saturday, being named on the bench at Oakwell. It was his first time being named in the squad since breaking his nose against Fleetwood.

However, Teddy Bishop was not named on the bench, after he picked up “a little bit of a niggle” last week. The Lincoln head coach confirmed the midfielder was “tough and go” for the game, speaking pre-match.

Eyes will notably be on Lukas Jensen this week, with the Dane currently sitting on four yellow cards, just one away from a suspension.

For the visitors, Fejiri Okenabirjie and Gassan Ahadme remain out. However, they are expected to return to training this week.

Head-to-Head:

Draws have proven superior over the 41 meetings between the two sides, with 15 wins for Lincoln, ten for the U’s and 16 draws.

In the reverse fixture, Lincoln City beat Cambridge 3-0 at the Abbey, thanks to goals from Danny Mandriou, Dylan Duffy and then on-loan Jack Vale.

The game saw the end of Mark Bonner’s time at Cambridge United, with Neil Harris arriving and exiting since.

A Boot in Both Camps:

Current Lincoln City Director of Football Jez George was at Cambridge before his time at Lincoln. He was caretaker manager at Cambridge United, before being appointed permanently after a successful end to the 2010/11 season.

He came out of his position of Director of Football for this role, but after a poor run of form in the 2012/13 season, George returned his original position.

In October 2014, George was named CEO at Cambridge United.

Dean Walling is another person to have be affiliated with both teams. Lincoln City signed Walling from Carlisle in 1997, for a then club-record fee of £75,000. With Walling in defence, Lincoln City gained promotion to Division Two, before being relegated back to Division Three a year later.

Walling later made the move to Cambridge United, where he made 20 appearances in Division Two.
