Lincoln City Women make the trip to Solihull Moors, looking to leapfrog their opponents in the league table.
City go into the match off the back of an impressive away performance at Northampton, where they came away with a valuable point.
The Imps are unbeaten in three games, sandwiching a win over Sheffield FC with draws against Northampton Town and Sutton Coldfield Town.
Opposition: Solihull Moors
Solihull are playing off the back of a big midweek defeat to Northampton Town. At half-time the score stood at 4-0 to the Cobblers, before they scored another two in the second half.
The poor form continues long before their defeat to Northampton, the side have picked up just one win from their last seven league games, conceding 20 goals in that time.
A win this afternoon however, will see them move above Sutton Coldfield in the table.
Team News:
City boss Lee Mitchell has expressed his delight with his side’s recent performances and is keen to ensure the Imps take all three points.
‘‘We’re just eyeing 3 points there, obviously not taking them for granted I know they didn’t do so well Tuesday night but that doesn’t mean anything in this league,’’ he said.
Mitchell also thinks the Solihull pitch, which is 3G, will suit his sides style.
He stated: I’m looking forward to it, we play on that [3G Pitch] and I see the sort of football we can do. You look at some of the football we play on Moorlands which is a muddy, heavy pitch and they’re playing some one touch football on that. If they can do that then they can do it more consistently on a better surface.’’
City’s Millie Quaintance believes her side have finally found a way to grind out results.
She said: ‘‘Something’s clicked and we’ve just managed to work something out. We’ve just managed to get some points that potentially hadn’t been before.’’
Head-to-Head:
The two sides have met six times over the course of recent seasons.
So far both teams have three wins each way. Most recently, it was Solihull Moors who took the three points. A 3-2 away win at the start of the season proves that this afternoon’s match-up will be tightly-contested.
