Lincoln United have had a busy weekend, announcing the signings of three new players.
The new management team, led by manager Scott Hellewell, are building their squad ahead of a another promotion push in the 2024/25 campaign.
Gregg Smith the First Through the Door:
Experienced striker Gregg Smith became the first new name to head to Ashby Avenue, signing from Retford United.
He has played for a catelgue of clubs in and around Lincolnshire, including Gainsborough Trinity, Grantham Town and Sleaford Town.
The Whites’ new manager Hellewell spoke to The Linc, and said the deal did not take long to do after the centre-forward expressed in interest in joining Lincoln. He added: “Gregg is someone that we have always liked, I played against him years and years ago and to this day, I say he’s probably one of the toughest players I have played against.”
Tom Hipwell Joins The Whites:
A product of Grimsby Town’s academy, Tom Hipwell joins Lincoln from a different coastal outfit, Grimsby Borough. The defender, who primarily operates as a centre-back, can also play at right-back.
He’s a player that Hellewell has often been across from in games at past clubs. Hipwell has played more than 100 games despite only being 21 years of age, and is a real threat from set pieces.
Henry Moore The Third Addition:
Henry Moore, the third summer signing, has been described as a “very, very good addition” by the Whites’ manager. He sees the “old school” centre-back, a former Winterton Rangers and Grimsby Borough player, as someone with a lot of potential.
The former Grimsby Town youngster comes in alongside Hipwell after centre-back pair of captain Callum Foster and ex-Gainsborough man Michael Jacklin exited the club.
