Lee Mitchell is the new Lincoln United Women manager, the club has announced.
He becomes The Whites’ third manager of the term, replacing Chris Funnell after his short-lived return to Ashby Avenue following Ricky Pledger’s stint at the start of the campaign.
Mitchell was the head coach at Lincoln City for more than three years, after assuming the role in March 2021. Before that he was the assistant to then-head coach Richard Cooper.
He guided the Imps to a third-place finish in the division they and cross-city rivals United currently occupy in his first full season in charge. In that FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands campaign they missed out on promotion by just three points.
In the following two terms, Mitchell steered City well clear of safety.
Steve Hardie, who assisted Mitchell at the Imps, will also make the journey across the city. He coached in various different roles for over five years at Lincoln City.
Lincoln United Women currently sit eighth in the fourth tier, six points clear of safety after the opening nine games. They return to action on Sunday, November 10, with the visit of Boldmere St. Michaels.
The loan signings of Chyna McIntosh and Sinead Fletcher, who both played under Mitchell and Hardie at Lincoln City, have already been announced by Stourbridge FC.
