Lincoln City travel to in-form Leafield Athletic, while Lincoln United host Sutton Coldfield Town in Chris Funnell’s first game back as permanent manager.

The Imps return to action in what will be their third game in the space of ten days, travelling to Leafield. On the other side of the city, United host Sutton Coldfield in a return to league action, after their FA Women’s National League Plate loss.

Lincoln United vs Sutton Coldfield Town:

Lincoln United were defeated in the cup last weekend, losing 4-1 to a strong Aston Villa Academy side. However, the Whites will surely be thrilled with their last game in the league, when they beat local rivals Lincoln City 5-1.

The game was all square at 1-1 going into the second-half, however a brilliant 45 minutes from the Whites earnt bragging rights over City. The goal scorers included Betsy Thomas as well as ex-Imp Holly Wilson.

Those two clashes were managed by Chris Funnell, as he returned to Ashby Avenue in interim charge. Now, the former Lincoln United men’s and women’s boss has sealed a permanent return to the side he led to an unbeaten treble last season.

Sutton Coldfield have struggled as of late, losing their last four games in the league. Their last win came against Lincoln City back in early September. That means they currently sit just three points above the relegation zone.

Last time out, Sutton were knocked out in the cup by Burnley, with the game ending 1-0.

Lincoln City vs Leafield Athletic:

City come into this Sunday’s game after another defeat in the league, this time to Barnsley. The Imps lost 5-0 on the road, as their wait for a first point of the season goes on.

Barnsley’s Jodie Michalska scored a hat-trick along with goals from Louise McCreadie and Jemima Jarvis, to ensure the points went to the home side.

Leafield Athletic are currently flying in the league in comparison to their fortunes last year. So far, they have lost just one game in the FA WNL Division One Midlands.

A win on Sunday could put them as high as second depending on results elsewhere.
