Striker Jack McMenemy has swapped Lincoln United for his hometown club, Gainsborough Trinity.

The Whites’ attacker was the club’s top scorer last term and has eight goals so far this term. He will now make the jump up two divisions to the Northern Premier League.

Russ Wilcox’s side lined-up against Lincoln in a pre-season friendly, and have now penned a deal for McMenemy after putting in a seven-day notice request.

United manager Scott Hellewell spoke to The Linc, and said:  “It’s a big blow, it came out of the blue a bit. We’re disappointed, but we can’t stand in his way when it’s two leagues above and his hometown club.

“He’s been good for us, and built up a really good partnership with Owen [Vincent]. Hopefully he will go there and kick on, he’s a good striker.”

The attacker scored 36 goals and assisted 31 more in his 85 appearances for The Whites, with 17 contributions in 20 games this term.

McMenemy will be available for Gainsborough Trinity’s clash with Whitby Town on Tuesday, November 5.
