Gainsborough Trinity have swooped in to seal the return of attacking midfielder Curtis Durose.

He spent the 2022/23 season on loan at the Holy Blues from Rotherham United, and has now signed on a permanent basis. Durose recently left fellow Northern Premier League outfit Matlock Town.

Manager Russ Wilcox said: “We are delighted to welcome Curtis back to the club. I’ve followed his development and when the opportunity came up we jumped at the chance to get him on board.

“He fits into what we are trying to achieve at the football club. He’s young and hungry to develop and grow and play as high as he possibly can.

“He realises it’s a competitive group he’s coming into that want to do well. He can play a few positions and knows we are flexible in the systems we play.”

Durose spent a short spell with Scarborough Athletic after his Trinity exit, before turning a loan stint permanent at Matlock.

He said: “It has been a mad week for me personally, from leaving a club to signing back here at the Holy Blues. I am buzzing to be back and cannot wait to get started, after the first conversations with Russ, I knew I wanted to be back here at this club. Just from how he spoke about the club and his ideas of playing and where I will fit in the squad.”

“The lads were class with me when I met them at training and I can’t wait to get back out at the Northolme with the boys in front of the Trinity fans.

“This is a club I am drawn to from my last spell here, and I want to continue my form where it left off when I left the club after the ’22/23 season.”

Curtis Durose will be available for selection as Gainsborough Trinity welcome Bamber Bridge to the KAL Group Stadium on Saturday, November 23.
