Donald J. Trump was the 45th President of the US.

US Republican Donald Trump has become the new president-elect after reigning victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

The election, a close race between Trump and Harris, gave Trump the 270 electoral votes required to secure his presidency until the 2028 election. The win has sparked feedback worldwide, and people in Lincoln have had mixed reactions to Trump’s victory.

Graeme Oliver, Nurse, 62, was uncertain about the effect of Trump’s impending presidency.

Graeme Oliver, Nurse, 62, said: “He’s a businessman; he knows what he’s going to do, whether it’s going to be right or wrong or people will benefit from it, we don’t know.”

When discussing the election and what it may hold for the UK, Graeme said: “I wasn’t really fussed, but it will affect us in the long run.”

James Grimshaw, Distribution Centre Worker, 18, said: “Donald Trump, I hate to say it, was the best in a bad bunch. I didn’t see Harris winning.

“I don’t think there was a right decision if I’m honest; they’re all as bad as each other.”

Lincoln locals shared their views when asked about their opinions on Trump’s relationship with the UK Prime Minister, Labour’s Kier Starmer.

James Grimshaw stated: “I don’t think Donald Trump can have a relationship with anyone.”

Stella Arden, Osteopath, 63, was disappointed that Harris was not appointed the 47th President of the United States.

Stella Arden, Osteopath, 63, said: “I’m never quite sure what the influence is, it’s hard to see if there is a relationship. I’m very wary of trade agreements from America, especially Trump.”

When reflecting on the election, Stella Arden said: “He’s not my favourite person. It’s sad that Kamala didn’t seem to grasp any policies that could provoke the interest of the rather coarse mental state of some of the ordinary Americans.

“She seems nice, she’s smart, she’s a lawyer, she’s a bit too neat and tidy for Americans.”
