Lincoln United will hold their first-ever Grassroots Day on Saturday, November 30.

Coinciding with their game against Harrowby United at The Sun-hat Villas and Resorts Stadium, grassroots teams will be afforded free entry, and parents can attend for just £10.

The Whites aim to secure a bumper crowd through the gates of Ashby Avenue, and are putting different activities on throughout the day for the young grassroots footballers.

Sam Wilkinson, Lincoln United vice-chairman, said: “The day is about trying to get as many kids and parents down to watch Lincoln United as possible. There are a lot of kids in Lincoln who probably don’t know who we are, so we wanted to open it up to them and get them to come and see the ground and see what we’re all about.”

There will be free raffle for children to enter, with prizes including: an Adult and Child Season Ticket for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign, and a £20 voucher to spend in the club shop.

Wilkinson added: “It’s about getting a good crowd, of course, but we are also putting a lot of things on for the kids during the day. We want them to go away and see that Lincoln United is a really good club.

“Grassroots Day was an idea I put to the board, and they’ve backed it. Hopefully we’ll do it again and expand it if it all goes well.”

The winners of the raffle will be drawn at half-time, and the young people in attendance will have the chance to go pitch-side and try and win a signed football.

Wilkinson explained: “We’ll put a match ball in the centre circle, then all of the kids will come on the pitch and throw tennis balls towards it. The person who gets their tennis ball closest wins.”

The game will also see the unveiling of a new scoreboard at Ashby Avenue.

The Whites’ vice-chairman said: “It’s not just the score and time on a dot-matrix, it’s a really impressive scoreboard.

“We’ve invested heavily in it, it’s a long term project and the Lincoln United Supporter’s Trust have put a lot of time and effort into helping us get to this point. Looking ahead, there are so many things we can do with it in terms of sponsors – so we hope it will eventually have paid for itself.”

Saturday’s fixture against Harrowby United is also United’s official Rainbow Laces match.
