Lincoln United have released a new LGBTQ+ kit to show their support for the Rainbow Laces Campaign.
It is an initiative set-up by Stonewall 11 years ago to demonstrate the importance of inclusivity in sport. which has since grown in its support.
The kit is adorned with rainbow strips on the shoulders, arms and shorts, and will be proudly worn by Lincoln United’s very own LGBTQ+ team. The launch is to show the club’s support for the LGBTQ+ community, as they strive to make football an inclusive place for all.
Gemma Bell, Junior Director at Lincoln United, said: “We believe football is a game for everyone. This new kit is more than just a design – it’s a statement of our commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring all players, fans, and members of our community feel welcome and valued.
“We’re proud to be at the forefront of driving positive change in the sport we all love.”
As well as the kit, the team and its coaches have been given the opportunity to wear rainbow laces in their boots. The laces, provided by Lincolnshire FA, are yet another way the club aims to show that it is inclusive and a safe space for people no matter what.
Lincoln United is only one of the teams using the laces, with others in the local area having picked up the sets as well.
Zack Leader, the club’s LGBTQ+ team founder, said: “As a proud advocate for inclusion in football, I’m thrilled to see Lincoln United FC take this step forward with our LGBTQ+ team’s new kit.
“The Progress Flag design symbolises our commitment to creating a welcoming and safe space for everyone to enjoy the beautiful game. This is more than just a kit – it’s a statement that Lincoln United stands for equality, diversity, and pride both on and off the pitch.”
