Lincoln City return to the LNER Stadium on the back of their first win in six games, as they face the struggling Peterborough United.

The Imps come into this game following a 1-0 win over Northampton Town at Sixfields, thanks to a singular goal by Tendayi Darikwa.

Opposition: Peterborough United

The Posh are having a torrid time this season. Having made the play-offs in their previous two seasons, Darren Ferguson’s side sit 19th in League One, just six points of the drop zone.

Ferguson’s side last picked up three league points on December 14, beating Crawley Town 4-3. Since then, they have lost four and drawn three in the league, as well as an FA Cup exit to Everton and progression to the quarter-final of the Vertu Trophy, after beating Walsall 4-2.

Peterborough’s manager could well put his sides poor season down to the loss of significant players, including Harrison Burrows, Ronnie Edwards and most recently Joel Randall, who joined Bolton at the start of the January transfer window.

Team News:

On Monday night, Lincoln announced the signing of Derby striker James Collins, who has previously been part of six promotion-winning teams in the EFL.

Michael Skubala has confirmed that Jack Moylan has suffered an ankle injury that will see him out for a significant amount of time.

He has joined Bailey Cadamarteri, Tom Hamer, George Wickens and Tyler Walker, who are all sidelined with respective injuries.

Head-to-Head:

In the 55 meetings between the two sides, it is Peterborough who hold the bragging rights, winning 23 to Lincolns 14, and 18 draws also.

Peterborough have been unbeaten in this fixture for the last seven games, winning three and drawing four.

The last win for Lincoln came on New Years’ Day 2020, when Jorge Grant scored a 90th minute free kick to secure a 2-1 win for the Imps.

In the reverse fixture this season, it finished 1-1 thanks to a Kwame Poku goal to equal Ben House’s earlier advantage.

Played for Both:

Current Boston United player Michael Bostwick made the journey up the A1, moving from Peterborough to Lincoln at the start of the 2017/18 season.

Signing for a newly promoted League Two Lincoln, Bostwick helped the Imps to the EFL Trophy, making seven appearances in the run including the final against Shrewsbury.

In his second season at the club, City won promotion to League One, with Bostwick voted as Lincoln’s Player of the Year.

A player to make their way down the A1 from Lincoln is Jorge Grant. The midfielder signed permanently from Nottingham Forest in July 2019, scoring 15 times in 68 games and being named in the League One team of the season for the 2020/21 season.
