Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala was pleased with his side’s second-half performance against Stevenage.

That assessment came despite the result leaving the Imps nine points off the Sky Bet League One play-off places. It also meant Lincoln stretched their poor run of results, having failed to score in 378 minutes of football.

Achieving a spot in the post-season lottery now looks an unlikely and unrealistic target for City, as many teams around them have one or even two games in hand. The gap to Reading is potentially increasing too.

On the goalless draw to Stevenage, Skubala said: “I thought in the first half they probably edged it and we were getting trapped down the left hand side. In the second half we edged it and definitely felt more like us. It was more intense, front-footed we tried taking the game, going after it and the three points.”

City had the chance of the game with forward Jovon Makama missing the target from less than six-yards.

Skubala said: “We had a big chance, a massive chance. But you get those things when you are a bit low on confidence. It’s something to build on. I really liked us second half and I think we grew into it.

“It was a fantastic move. It’s an amazing cross from Jack to Reeco. He settles it and zips it across and it’s everything but the finish. It’s frustrating to not come away with three points but the second half was more like us.”

Transfer window opens:

The Imps boss also spoke about the transfer window, now January is well underway.

He said: “We need to help the frontline. There’s no doubt in my mind we need to help at the top of the pitch, but in January it is what is available. It’s not like we can just do anything we want to do, it doesn’t work like that in football.

“If we can add then yes, we want to do it, but they have to be good and they have got to be in our range.”

City have already loaned out striker Rob Street to League Two side Doncaster Rovers, with a few more expected to exit to find some game time.
