A Lincoln musical theatre charity plans to celebrate its 75th Anniversary with a special concert to be held later this year.
The County Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (CAODS) has aimed to give theatrical opportunities to all ages since 1949 in the New Theatre Royal, Lincoln, by allowing members to star in at least one full-scale musical theatre production in their lifetime.
Over the years, the charity has produced 80 shows and plans to host an anniversary concert in late September, featuring their choir, dance performances, solos and special guests.
Emily Novell, 31, music teacher and trustee of CAODS, said: “I joined CAODS because I wanted to do more performing and get that buzz again. Having extracurricular activities like this is important, and it is important to push it and make it available.”

The society received charitable status last year and puts on one production annually alongside its choir and kids’ variety show summer school.
They have produced many recognised shows, including Elf: The Musical, School of Rock, Sunset Boulevard and The Lilac Domino, their first play as a society in 1949.
Ms Novell said that the additional funding gives the charity access to offer more; they plan to create master classes with West End and TV stars and look into new activities for members.
Although the charity has grown in recent years, Ms Novell said that there is still hope for more recognition and is pushing to attract more members.
