After the first-ever soapbox race in the city last year, Lincoln prepares to host its second this June.

Krazy Races said they would “love” to return to the city at the end of 2024’s event, and their wish was granted by Lincoln BIG.

The company, who host award-winning soapbox races across the county, said this year’s event will be bigger and bolder than the last, returning by popular demand.

After a spectacular 2024, which saw over 100,000 visitors, 200 teams and more than £150,000 raised for charity, the soapbox derby series is once again gearing up to bring its unique blend of creativity, competition, and charity fundraising to Lincoln.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 22, with a maximum of 40 local teams challenged to design, build and race their own handcrafted soapboxes in front of crowds of up to 20,000.

Local businesses, entertainers, and food vendors will join the event, creating what Krazy Races says will be an “unforgettable day” for families, friends, and race enthusiasts alike.

Danny Scoffin, head of brand & strategic development at Krazy Races, said: “We are absolutely buzzing to be returning to Lincoln after last year’s success. The enthusiasm and energy we felt from the community were electric, and we can’t wait to see what new and exciting soapboxes the people of Lincoln have in store for us this year.

Applications open at 8am on Monday, February 17, with the organisers looking to collate a diverse range of competitors from charities and business to individual racers.

Lee Roberts, head of operations at Lincoln BIG, shared his excitement, and said: “After the fantastic response last year, we’re thrilled to welcome Krazy Races back to Lincoln.

“It’s going to be an amazing day filled with excitement, and we encourage local businesses to get involved and enter teams. Let’s make this year’s event even bigger than before.”

Last year, team spaces sold out within hours, so interested teams are urged to be race-ready when team registration opens on Monday.
