“We should expect to be beating teams like that, no disrespect to them”, Sam Clucas said following Lincoln City defeat to relegation-threatened Burton Albion.
The Imps suffered a heart-breaking 1-0 loss at home against Burton conceding in added time after having two goals disallowed during the game.
It was a long-awaited home debut for Clucas after returning to the club after 15 years.
He was asked how it felt to make his debut in front of the home fans, and said: “It was nice to come out, I actually walked out with my daughter as well before the game so that was a really nice touch.
“But yeah, disappointing it’s not really about me it’s about the team and the club and really disappointed to come away loosing that game to be honest.”
This loss meant that the Imps have only won once in the past six games with their last home clean sheet being all the way back at the start of the year in their goalless draw against Stevenage.

He added: “It’s difficult [to keep a positive atmosphere] because you can say we’re going to kick on try and win games, but it does affect players especially when you have got a young team.
“It’s difficult but we got to turn it round we got a lot of older experienced players in their now that got to pull everyone through.
“You’ve seen what we can do against Mansfield who are a very good team so we just got to do that and can’t be as inconsistent as we are at the minute.”
The disallowed goals:
Talking about the two disallowed goals, Clucas said: “The referee chalked of a couple goals which has been happening a lot recently, I don’t know if they are I haven’t seen it back so I can’t comment if they have been rightly chalked off or not.”
He then went on to add: “He said (the referee) that Jovon [Makama] pulled someone in the box like a little tug on the arm, I don’t know if that would have affected it or not to be honest.
“If we are giving fouls for stuff like that then I think Collo’s [James Collins] was a foul because you can’t just jump into the back of someone when he’s trying to bring it down if we are giving fouls for pulling arms, that’s what he said to me.
“It seemed soft, and everyone said it was soft on the bench, but I have not seen it back.”
Lincoln City travel to Barnsley next Saturday, on March 1.
