Lincoln United 1-1 AFC Mansfield:
Lincoln United manager Scott Hellewell reflects on a draw with AFC Mansfield after an opportunity was missed to gain ground on the top two.
The Linc sports reporter Thomas Westcott asked the Whites’ manager if the result was one point gained or two lost, to which he said: “I don’t think we deserved to win the game, because I don’t think we were good enough, so it’s probably a point gained.”
The United boss dissected the performance, which he described as one of the worst he had seen from his side in the first-half.
After the break, Lincoln improved according to Hellewell, throwing everything at the game to try and find a winner after the equalising penalty from captain Elliott Dye.
Eastwood CFC’s result meant the battle for promotion is back in the hands of Lincoln United, as their unbeaten run extends to 11 and they look ahead to their games in hand.
