For the first time in the club’s history, Cleethorpes Town have been promoted to step three.

It comes thirteen years after they entered the Northern Premier League, as they will now join the division featuring fellow Lincolnshire outfit Gainsborough Trinity.

The Owls secured their promotion following a 3-0 win against Carlton Town in April. It sent them 13 points clear at the top of the table, making them uncatchable for second place Gateshead-based outfit Dunston UTS.

Cleethorpes have since played their first home game after winning the East Division of the Northern Premier League, securing yet another win as they finished 2-1 against Belper Town FC last Saturday.

The match was the precursor for the trophy presentation.

Home fans were able to celebrate amongst the players as the trophy lift commenced after the match.

Town supporters were welcomed onto the pitch, where emotional speeches from the team’s captain, Brad Abbott, and other officials for the club, including manager Craig Rouse, were made.

Upon their promotion, Rouse said: “It means everything. It’s an accumulation of nine months of hard work throughout the season and the hard work put in through pre-season.

“The players have their rewards for all the commitment they’ve shown and its delightful. The whole club top to bottom it’s been a massive effort, and I’m pleased we got over the line.”

Earlier in the season, the Owls had lost in the Lincolnshire County Cup final, but managed to put that behind them to achieve promotion.

On Easter Monday, Cleethorpes drew with North Ferriby, leaving a home tie against Liversedge as the curtain call for the successful campaign.

With only one game left of the season, the team will hope to end on a high before taking the next step to the step three of the English non-league pyramid next term.

North East Lincolnshire side can claimed 95 points if they manage to win their final outing of the 2024/25 campaign.
