Lincoln City travel to relegation threatened Northampton Town tomorrow night as they hope to make it four wins from five so far this season.

Lincoln City come into this one off the back of a victory over recently relegated Plymouth Argyle that looked relatively comfortable until the last quarter of the game that finished in nervy fashion.

A first half opener from Tom Bayliss was followed by a second half brace from James Collins to put the Imps three goals to the good.

However, two goals in quick succession for the visitors brought them back into the game before defender Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu was shown a second yellow card for simulation.

Opponents: Northampton Town

The Cobblers have picked up just one point so far this season which came at Sixfields in a 0-0 draw against play-off chasing Bradford City.

Former West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan took charge of the midlands outfit in December of last year.

He picked up eight wins in 25 games to end last season and will hoping to add to that tomorrow night to lift his side out of the relegation zone.

Northampton have had a mixed window as 19 players left the club all on free transfers including Tarique Fosu, Mitch Pinnock and Tyler Magloire.

They were replaced by 14 incomings also all on free transfers, the most notable of which was former Stevenage winger Elliot List.

Team News:

The Imps were bolstered in Saturday’s victory as Ben House and Reeco Hackett both returned to the field, with the former playing in a face mask to protect his broken nose.

However, Jack Moylan will remain out of the side following the ankle injury that he picked up in last
week’s Carabao victory over Harrogate Town.

Head-to-head:

The Imps just about have the edge in this fixture having beaten Northampton on 19 occasions in the past, however a draw is the most frequent result with the points being shared 26 times.

Two of those victories came last season when the Imps came from behind to find a 2-1 victory at the LNER Stadium.

Most recently, a first-half Tendayi Darikwa goal was enough to separate the sides in January when they last locked horns at Sixfields.

Played for both:

Despite the club’s proximity there are very few big names to have featured for both sides.

Frenchman Francis Laurent made a combined 20 appearances from both sides.

Retired midfielder Terry Butcher started his career at Northampton without stepping onto the pitch, before moving to Lincoln from Kettering Town in 2002- playing 104 times for the Imps and scoring 11 goals.
