Lincoln City moved to within just two points of top in SkyBet League One after securing a massive 1-0 win over play-off chasing Stevenage in the early kick-off on Saturday.
The visitors were top going into the match but an impressive display from the Imps saw them pick up their fourth league win in the last five games, moving four points clear of seventh-placed Bolton Wanderers.
LincSport reporter Declan Dempsey spoke to Rob Street after the game, who said: “Really happy with the win, it was always going to be a tough game.
“We know what sort of opposition we were up against but we dug in deep and I think it was a really good all round performance.”
The only goal in the game was scored by the 24-year-old striker, he netted his first league goal of the season in the 69th minute after picking up a loose ball just inside the 18-yard box and firing the ball beautifully into the top right corner.

When asked how he felt after the ball rippled the back of the net, Street said: “Just overall excitement.
“I’ve been itching to get a goal in the league this season, I’ve had a few in the cups but yeah buzzing to get on the scoresheet in the league today and obviously win the game.”
The Imps dominated the first half action, creating five big chances and coming closest through Street himself and Tendayi Darikwa late on in the half.
On their first half domination, Street said: “We were actually really happy with how we played in the first half, we nullified them to very few chances and we created the better chances ourselves.
“We went in at the break and we didn’t want to stress, we knew we should’ve been two up but we knew to just keep doing the same thing, keep getting into the right positions and hopefully we’d get that goal and we did.”
It’s now over a month until City return to action at the LNER Stadium, facing five straight away matches in all competitions starting with Leyton Orient this Saturday.
Street expressed his excitement for the difficult run, he said: “Yeah its funny how the fixtures work, but we’re looking forward to it.
“We’ve got some tough away games coming up but we know if we keep performing how we have been then I’ve got no concern going into these next five games.”
