Lincoln City soldiered on in SkyBet League One yesterday, after a dominant 1-0 victory over high-flying Stevenage saw the Imps go to within just a point of their opposition.
An impressive defensive display saw City record their fourth clean sheet in seven matches, cementing themselves in the promotion race and moving four points clear of seventh-placed Bolton Wanderers.
Speaking after the game, City head coach Michael Skubala was delighted with his side’s professionalism and said: “I thought today the lads implemented the match plan really well.”
“Some really good moments and we just needed to wait for that chance, and we got it.”
The hosts dominated throughout the majority of the first half but couldn’t find that crucial breakthrough despite two one-on-one opportunities.
When asked about whether his side is lacking a hint of ruthlessness in front of goal currently, Skubala said: “No, you see how many goal scorers we’ve got this year, I think we share the goals around, which is a good thing.”
“We could’ve taken more chances today but it’s about getting the job done and we’ve done it.”
Rob Street scored his first league goal of the season as the he netted the all-important goal of the match as he secured the three points for the home side.
Skubala was quick to praise Street today as he said: “I’m delighted for him because he’s been waiting for his opportunity to play as a number nine.
“Now we’ve got some real competition with him. The group’s really competitive now and everybody that comes on the pitch has to do what they do, so I’m really excited to move forward.”

City now face over a month away from the LNER Stadium, turning their attention to five straight away matches in all competitions.
Skubala didn’t seem phased with their upcoming travels however and said: “Just look at the next game and put a team on the pitch that we think can win the game.”
“Then we’ll go from game to game and make sure we recover right and go again.”
City’s first of five away matches takes them to The BetWright Stadium, where the Imps face a Leyton Orient side who are freshly off the back of a defeat to fellow mid-table outfit Rotherham United.
