Lincoln City extended their lead at the top of the SkyBet League One table last night following their 1-0 win over relegation threatened Exeter City.
That win extended the gap over second placed Cardiff City to four points as they could only find a 1-1 draw away to Barnsley.
Now with just ten games remaining, they sit 13 points clear of third place Bolton Wanderers, making automatic promotion almost a certainty.
And Opta seem to agree as stats updated on March 11 gave the Lincolnshire side a 99.82 per cent chance of promotion at the end of the season.
They also extended that and gave Michael Skubala’s side an 85.82 per cent chance of lifting the League One title in May on an expected points total of 95.50.

That would require the Imps to pick up just 18 of the remaining 30 points available to them which seems more than achievable given that the side haven’t lost in the league since November.
Despite that, Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala seemed to stay grounded following last night’s victory.
The February manager of the month nominee said: “Every game is tough, whether it’s away, home our next focus is on a really big game against Stockport.
“They’ve had a longer rest so we’ll need to recover well, we’ll get on the bus and watch the watch game back to see how we can keep improving because we have to.”
However, what is the rest of the footballing world saying in regards to the Imps’ promotion challenges and their chances in the second tier?
Looking up the pyramid and Tottenham Hotspur fans seem fairly confident of the Imps making the step up.
In an attempt to mock their own side, following last night’s 5-2 loss to Atletico Madrid, they were seen singing “Lincoln away, ole ole” while walking through the streets of Madrid.
Former LincSport co-editor Jamie Johnson labelled Skubala’s side as “ready for the Championship” in his article on Football League World.
While FootballInsider said that this “magnificent” Lincoln side are now comfortable favourites for the title.

On the contrary to that, fans all over Lincoln City ‘X’ have loved coining the term “average Imps” ever since their 2-1 victory over Burton Albion in January.
After that one several Brewers fans took to the social media platform saying that the side didn’t deserve the victory and labelled them as average.
Since that point, supporters of Huddersfield Town, Bolton Wanderers and Bradford City have all jumped on the trend.
Which left Imps fans to respond with four simple words of “Up the average Imps” every time the side have found victory since.
Therefore, does it really matter what the rest of the footballing world thinks of Skubala’s side when the Imps believe that they can do it and data seems to agree.

I’m a Blades fan living in Lincoln and am delighted at what will be an historic season for the Imps
Loving the play of Ryan of course.
One’ One’ One’!
At the moment I’d rather be an average Imp, than a brilliant footballing side like Bolton or Cardiff.
Our style is disciplined defence and goals from breakaways and set pieces.
When we beat Cardiff recently they played clever tippy tappy football, but couldn’t penetrate our resolute defence.
Up the average Imps.
