28-year-old Richard Butcher will be no stranger to Sincil Bank, having previously had two spells with the club.
Butcher was first signed in November 2002 by former manager Keith Alexander who signed him from non-league side Kettering, He made over 100 appearances for the Imps including two trips to the Millennium Stadium in play-off finals.
Butcher moved to League 1 side Oldham in the summer of 2005 before returning to the Imps on loan later that year — before having spells at Peterborough United and Notts County who released him at the end of last season.
The arrival of Richard Butcher will boost the centre of midfield which was left short on numbers after the sale of Lee Frecklington to Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough United.
His hard working ethic and eye for goals made him a fans favourite in his first spell at the club and fans and manager Peter Jackson will be hoping Butcher can reproduce that kind of form this coming season.
