It was a mixed bag of results for the university’s sports teams. The standout results were seen in golf with the men’s first team defeating Loughborough’s first team, while the University of Nottingham 2nds were soundly beaten by the men’s 3rds.
The women’s football team carried on their impressive form with an 8–4 win at Coventry, meaning the women have scored 28 goals in their opening two fixtures. It was also a good week for the badminton team with both the men’s and women’s teams beating Derby 2nds and De Montfort respectively.
Chris Farrell, the Students’ Union’s vice-president for sports, was very pleased with the results: “It was a great day, the rugby union 2nds recorded their third win in a row, which means they’re now top of the league… The University of Lincoln golf team beat Loughborough in the golf premiership, which was an outstanding victory and a massive delight to the vice-chancellor. Well done to all teams. Keep up the good work!”
