Fashion never rests, and neither do the problems that go with it. So, here are another two dilemmas that reader’s have shared with us, following on from our last dilemmas. May they aid you in putting together the perfect outfit.
Lauren Lewis, 20: My sister-in-law works for Topshop so I usually listen to her fashion advice. She told me that it’s not okay to wear black and navy blue together. Is this always the case?
There are no fashion rules outlawing wearing black and navy together.
The two classic colours are always appearing alongside each other on the catwalk. They featured heavily in Moschino’s Autumn/Winter 2009 show, and Betty Jackson was just one of many designers who used the colours together for Autumn/Winter 2010.
If you need any more confirmation, combining navy and black was given the go-ahead by Vogue just last month.
As with anything, there are some occasions when black and navy may not work together or you don’t like how it looks, but, if it’s good enough for Vogue…
Next, Philippa Whybrow, 20: Is there any way of wearing big earrings and a big necklace at the same time and still looking okay?
Big earrings and necklaces aren’t often seen together, despite the recent trends for bold, oversized jewellery. However, that doesn’t mean that they can never go together.
When statement necklaces covered the catwalks last spring/summer, Louis Vuitton proved that earrings and necklaces can be worn together to create a strong impact. The fairly rare appearances, though, do indicate that wearing both may be difficult for you to pull off.
Spend a bit of time trying different pieces together, such as large studs with a shorter necklace, and longer earrings with a longer necklace.
Keeping your hair style and neckline quite simple will also make your appearance less fussy as a whole, so a successful combination of earrings and a necklace should be easier to achieve.
