Popular shoe store, Charles Clinkard, is set to open its doors to Lincoln’s high street on Thursday 26th January. The family owned company has settled on the former Janel site, at 22 Guildhall Street, and will be competing for the affections of Lincoln’s shoppers.
Ali Ghobadi, who deals with online marketing for the store says: “We will compete on price; our sales are always a tremendous opportunity to bag a bargain, but that’s not at the heart of our proposition.”
Charles Clinkard offers customers an extensive range of branded, high quality footwear which are ‘easy to wear’ and ‘meant to last’.
Ghobadi, 30, explains, “We generally stock quite a classic range, rather than being at the cutting edge… We sell high quality shoes that are meant to last, therefore they’re not always the cheapest.”
The shoe store dates back to 1924, with the opening of its first site in Middlesbrough, County Durham. The independent chain has since grown to 34 stores across the UK and is family owned and privately funded.
The company’s new space on Guildhall Street has been recently renovated and is almost ready for the grand opening on Thursday. The store will sell men’s and ladies’ footwear from brands such as Hunter, Timberland and Ugg, and are offering readers of The Linc a 15% discount until February 29th 2012.
