You’re a student. The word ‘budget’ can be intimidating, especially as it’s hard to cover the cost of your rent and food, let alone be able to provide any treats for yourself.
As seasons change, the urge to update your wardrobe can start to build, but put away that purse. Here are five items that are worth investing in – or may already be hiding away in your closet, so now’s the time to give them an airing.
A white shirt
Wearing a shirt can add instant glamour to any outfit and smarten your appearance for special occasions, but also offer the wearer a hint of effortless chic when worn tucked into jeans. Due to the neutral colour, this item can be reworked with jewellery, scarves, or coloured tops underneath to inject some colour into your look.
An oversized jumper
As the weather starts to take a turn for the worse, one of the few things that motivates me to get out of bed in the morning is my extensive collection of massive jumpers. You may or may not have noticed that every winter, knitwear comes back with a bang and simple slouchy knits appear on the high street without fail. Why not try re-wearing your old woollen pieces with jeans or leggings this year, teamed with this seasons Chelsea boots?
A denim jacket
Let’s face it, denim never goes out of fashion. Those risky few out there may enjoy rocking double denim, but for the more shy fashionistas amongst us, this staple piece will never disappear. It’s such a practical item that it can be thrown on top of most daytime looks.
A pair of court shoes
These little beauties are my favourite investment. Due to the subtle appearance of the shoe, they can be worn to work or to the bar and no one will bat an eyelid. This is because when bought in a neutral shade, these heels can blend with any outfit.
A little black dress
Something every girl needs tucked away in her wardrobe. If the neckline and dress is simple enough, this can be worn to death and reinvented with statement jewellery, jackets and will be transformed with tights to be dressed down in the daytime and taken up a notch with a pair of heels for night time.
