While turnout for the SU elections were down, more of you completed The Linc’s SU election exit poll this year.

Our results this year have also been more decisive: while the VP Activities election last year was neck-and-neck, it looks like Will Fry is set to storm to victory at Tower Bars tonight.

John-Paul Dickie also seems leagues ahead of his competitors in the VP Academic Affairs election, while Tasnim Hassan is in pole position for VP Welfare & Community.

Incumbent VP Activities Sammi Storey could be pipped in the presidential race by Joel Loynds, who both top Ryan Kerridge and Nathan Ingram respectively.

However, the current International Officer, Wendy Ly, looks like she will fall into the new VP International role.

You can see the full results, with data on all the candidates, in our infographic below:

Here at The Linc, while we’re proud of the poll we put together, we are reasonably a little skeptical of the results; given that journalism students tend to interact more with our content, it might not be as safe a ride for current journalism students Joel Loynds and John-Paul Dickie as our results predict.

Non-voters had a broader variety of reasons for not voting this year compared to 2015, with just 21% saying they “don’t care about the Students’ Union” instead of 50%.

Of course, these results are merely a random sample of student opinion – they may end up having no say whatsoever on the actual results, due to be revealed in the coming hours at Tower Bar.

As ever, though, we’re predicting a bad time at the results night for RON.
