In a city full of shops targeting students as their main consumer, it’s hard to believe that one aspect of women’s fashion is often overlooked. Between rails of petite fashion and winter-wear there is a distinct lack of retailers catering for the tall girl’s plight, and shopping for jeans can often become a momentous task.

It comes as no surprise to many that the only saviour in this situation is online shopping. After many shops removed their ranges from its stores, it became a rarity to see long-length clothing on the shop floor. In fact, many tall clothing lines were scrapped all together. Thankfully, High Street giants New Look, Topshop, River Island and Next have stayed consistent over the past few years with their supply of good value tall ranges.

Depending on your budget, both Boohoo and Missguided have in the past year released their own offerings to the table, which are both fashion conscious and purse-friendly. Of course, you may have to return a few pairs until you find the right fit, but both retailers have generous return policies via post.

Both New Look and Dorothy Perkins stock basic tall and long-length jeans that won’t break the bank, but can be lacking some of the more refined details such as sequins, rips and embroidery that you may be looking for. Dorothy Perkins offers a good fit and remembers to lengthen all aspects of the jean, not just the leg itself. However, if browsing several websites still feels like too much of a chore then ASOS stocks the majority of high street tall collections on its site.

When searching for the perfect pair it can become quite easy to feel disheartened. Especially when petite ranges seem to be featured in every store while tall clothing supposedly became extinct due to lack of demand. The silver lining is that once you find the range that works best for you, you’ve won half the battle and will have significantly less stress the next time the need for new clothes arises.

Happy shopping!
