Michael Skubala has been announced as Lincoln City’s new head coach, the club confirmed in a statement.

The Leeds United U21s head coach has taken over from Mark Kennedy, who was dismissed by the Imps last month.

He said: “It feels great to be here, it has been a really warm welcome and I’m looking forward to getting going.”

And added: “I’ve been here for a couple of games in the past few weeks and I’ve seen how important the fans are for the young players and how they can push the team.”

He acted as the assistant manager to both Javi Garcia and Sam Allardyce towards the end of last season, at Leeds.

The 41-year-old took charge of three Premier League games at Leeds United, after Jesse Marsch was sacked in February. He drew one and lost two games as caretaker manager before Gracia took the permanent role.

Lincoln City chairman Clive Nates said: “We have been tracking Michael for some time as he is one of the most exciting young coaches in the game right now, and had a robust recruitment process to ensure he was the right person for us at this time. We had a list of 15 coaches we thought would be a good fit, and Michael impressed as we went through the interviews.”

Skubala takes over at the LNER Stadium with Lincoln City 9th in SkyBet League One, following Tom Shaw’s seven game reign as interim head coach.

He will take charge of his first Lincoln game on Saturday, November 18th, as the Imps travel to Stevenage, one month to the day that Mark Kennedy was dismissed.

  1. I’m really excited by this appointment, I’ve lived in Lincoln for 50 years and have seen more than my fair share of games home and away under many different managers from the glory days of graham Taylor,Colin Murphy and Keith Alexandra to name only 3,I will always follow Lincoln I was there at Wembley when we beat Shrewsbury, but I’m sorry to admit admit I’m a true Leeds utd fan and have been since 1965 when a certain Liverpool team beat us 2-1 in fa cup final. That is why I’m excited by this appointment.GOOD LUCK
