Lindum Hockey‘s women’s first team drew to Leeds, as the Yellow Submarine returned to the LSA for the first of three home games in a row.
Off the back of a 3-0 loss to Morpeth last week, the hosts came back fighting.
But, after Lindum conceded two goals in the final two minutes of the game, they finished ended up with just a point in a 3-3 draw with Leeds’ second team.
A flying first-half:
Quick footwork from both teams saw them struggle to secure a goal in the first ten minutes of the game. But, Lindum set the record straight with a goal from Nat Mansfield on that mark.
Leeds responded minutes later with a goal from Amy Brown-Carrera in the 15th minute, after she narrowly avoided several defenders from Lindum’s side to slap the ball beyond the goalkeeper.
After 10 more minutes of scrappy play from both sides, Lindum managed to get a shot off with a goal from Megan Waterworth to make the score 2-1.
Then, despite being awarded a short corner towards the end of the first-half, Leeds was unable to equalise.
Onto the second-half:
The start of the second-half was a quiet one for both teams, with them each struggling to finding their feet after the break.
Play got scrappier as the green card was brandished in the direction of a Leeds player, following a poor foul.
As the rain started to fall and conditions worsened, Lindum persevered. After Leeds missed two open chances on goal, Lindum’s Cameo Johnson scored the home side’s third to double the advantage.

Last minute heartbreak:
Play continued with Lindum leading the way confidently, until they conceded a goal in the 68th minute to make the score 3-2.
Despite their best efforts, Leeds’s last-minute attempts at equalising the game proved too strong for the Lindum defence.
As, in the final minute of the game, Leeds were awarded a short corner, which was planted into the back of the Yellow Submarines’ net.
Dave Knowles, head coach for Lindum, shared his thoughts after the game.
He said: “It’s frustrating because we played very well for 68 minutes, and our discipline and structure was good, and a little bit of naivety and a bit of inexperience meant we made a few errors. But, if we learn from it moving forward that’s the important bit.
“It’s about composing we and being confident on the ball. We need to rely on our basics and relax more. Hopefully stop making the same mistakes and push on moving forward.”
Lindum face Sheffield on Saturday, February 22, at the LSA.
