Police are urging motorists to avoid travel between 7.00am and 10.00am on Monday due to the severe weather expected to hit in the early hours of the morning.

Lincolnshire police expect isolated winds to reach up to a possible 80 mph, which could cause serious hazards for drivers. There is also likely to be heavy rain which may cause some localised flooding.

Supt Shaun West said: “We are appealing to motorists to delay travelling until after 10.00am tomorrow if at all possible.”

“If people to need to travel we would urge them to drive to the conditions and be conscious of flying debris, unstable high-sided vehicles and reduced visibility due to rain and spray.”

Roads could become blocked by debris later in the day and power may go in some areas if power-lines are knocked down. The police recommend checking local radio for updates.
