Nothing could separate the two sides during the first four matches and both universities went into the halfway point with 2 victories each.

Lincoln went into a 3-2 lead after an impressive 21-15, 22-20 win from Amy Smith over Hull’s Ruth Prout.

Unfortunately though Lincoln could not sustain it and lost all 3 of the last matches to give an overall score of 5-3 to Hull.

Lincoln’s Jessica Carter however was not disheartened: “I’m not disappointed that we lost because played really well, and it’s all good practice for our upcoming cup matches.”

The University of Hull smashes Lincoln Men’s Badminton team to win 8-0.

A under strength Lincoln side were powerless to the skill and power of the Hull men. They could do nothing to stop eight victories.

The closest Lincoln came was in the Lincoln Firsts vs Hull Seconds double match. Lincoln Captain Alex Truman and President Chris James fought back after losing the first set to win the second. However, they lost the final set 21-14.

That was the only set that Lincoln managed to win, all the other seven matches were won in straight sets.

The Lincoln Badminton President, Chris James thought the team battled hard: “It was really competitive and we played well this morning. In the second lot of games no-one played as well as they could have but we’ve done ourselves proud.”
