The review will focus on choice, value for money, access and skills provision in post-18 education, with the investigation concluding early next year.

In a statement, a University of Lincoln spokesperson said: “At Lincoln, we are proud of our record on teaching quality, student engagement and graduate employability, as well as our award-winning approach to working with industry to deliver the skills and research innovations our society and economy need.

“A fair and sustainable system of post-18 education funding should help people of all backgrounds achieve their potential and meet the needs of employers.

“Our universities must also have the resources to invest in the world-class facilities, equipment and academic talent that make Britain a world leader in higher education.”

The review will be informed by an independent panel, who will publish a report at ‘an interim stage’.
