Although there’s few places left in many halls of residence, steps are being made to improve this as plans for new studio apartments within the Brayford Quay development have got underway, with the project’s completion set for September 2011.

The studios will cost students between £106 for a standard studio room, and £195 for a ‘deluxe studio’ designed for double occupancy.

The new accommodation will be built in currently unused space in the existing Brayford Quay building.

The studios will have a 50 week contract compared to a 46 week contract for standard en suite rooms in the Brayford Quay accommodation.

The studios, which are still yet to be built, have already generated interest with some of the accommodation already let. The studio apartments are being allocated on a first come first served basis, with approximately 75% of the accommodation still available.

All studios will be en suite, with inclusive bills and broadband, and the company in charge of Brayford Quay says that the studio flats will be completed to a “high standard”.
