Last night, The University of Lincoln Students’ Union were crowned HE Students’ Union of the Year by NUS UK at an award ceremony in Bolton.
Lincoln beat off competition from Loughborough, Teeside and Bath’s student unions to win the award.
Over the past year, the SU have been busy helping students at the university by offering food bank vouchers, cleaning the streets of Lincoln, increasing voting among students, and most notably saving The Shed from closure.
Departing SU President Dan Sam, said in a statement on the unions’ website: “To be recognised in such company is a huge credit. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Students’ Union over the past year.”
Last years’ sabbatical officers, Dan Sam, Joe Burt, Ian Antwi, and Brian Alcorn (now president) will pass over to Brian in his new role and the three newly elected officers, Olivia, Josh and Hayley and have said: “Next year is going to be equally as challenging and exciting as the 2014/15 academic year. With our new Sabbatical Officer team in place, planning and ideas are already flowing and we’re all looking forward to working to give you, our members, a great time.”
